Abstract

The invention relates to Bleached Acacia Kraft Pulp (BAKP) derived from Acacia mangium wood, a fast-growing plantation species. Developed by APRIL Group, this pulp is produced using a kraft pulping process followed by elemental chlorine-free (ECF) bleaching to achieve high brightness and strength characteristics.

The resulting pulp demonstrates superior optical and mechanical properties, making it suitable for various paper manufacturing applications. The innovation addresses sustainability concerns by using plantation-grown wood and ensures consistent quality through controlled production processes.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Traditional kraft pulp production has relied heavily on softwood and eucalyptus species due to their favorable fiber characteristics. However, increasing demand for sustainable and cost-effective alternatives has led to the exploration of plantation-grown hardwoods like Acacia mangium.
